Alexandros A. Taflanidis

Associate Professor


Dr. Taflanidis received his diploma in Civil Engineering with major in Structural Engineering from the Civil Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2002. He completed the Master’s program “Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures” in 2003 in the same department. He received his PhD in 2008 in Civil Engineering with a minor in Control and Dynamical Systems from the California Institute of Technology. Subsequently he conducted postdoctoral research at Duke University.

 

He joined the faculty of the University of Notre Dame in 2008.  Dr. Taflanidis currently oversees the operation of the HIgh Performance system Analysis and Design (HIPAD) laboratory. He is also part of the University of Notre Dame team that is committed to scholarship and service for Haiti following the devastating January 2010 earthquake.
